Backman is a Music Producer based in the Czech Republic. It was not long ago when Backman (David K.) participated in a Battle of the Producers contest curated by Innerstate Records, LLC. Out of the hundreds of entries Backman won the contest in early 2021 with the highest AudioKite Research score for a Remix of a song by the artist, Obscurley from which the song “Way Home” emerged. Since then, Backman’s focus has mainly been on electronic music. Backman worked on several genres before that and says that he, “Simply loves to bring them all together in an electronic vibe. I love to use “real” instruments in an electronic way and to mix different styles in a song.”
Backman currently plays piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, drums, and sings. “There's a long way ahead of me to be really good in any of those, but it's actually the fun part - I love to learn new stuff, so I always study, and I want to incorporate as many genres and instruments in my songs as possible, although the label “electronic” is like a roof over the top of this.”
Backman says that he listens to so many artists in so many different genres, that it's so hard to tell what his biggest inspiration is. “Probably the most famous artists I love are the Daft Punk, Moby, Gorillaz and Chase and Status, but I must at least mention The Dø, De Staat, Gangstagrass or Violent Femmes, Flogging Molly, The Shoes, Modest Mouse, Cage The Elephant, The Black Keys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. There's just so many, I have to stop right here!”
